The Medium

⁣"The Medium" (Thai: ร่างทรง Rang Song) is a 2021 Thai-South Korean supernatural horror film directed by Banjong Pisanthanakun and co-written and produced by Na Hong-jin. It is a co-production between Thailand's GDH 559 and South Korea's Showbox.

The film follows a documentary crew that travels to the Isan region of Thailand to interview Nim, a medium who claims to be possessed by the spirit of Ba Yan, a local goddess. As they delve into the supernatural occurrences surrounding Nim and her family, they encounter a series of misfortunes and possessions.

The movie was premiered at the 25th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival on July 11, 2021, and was theatrically released in South Korea on July 14, 2021. It has garnered positive reviews and received accolades, including being awarded the Bucheon Choice Award for Best Film at the festival.

In terms of distribution, the film's rights have been acquired by various companies for release in different territories. Shudder has acquired the overall streaming rights for the United States, while Finecut is handling international sales. The film has been licensed to distributors in countries such as France, Germany, Macau, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam.
